Strategic Plan with Tactical Problem Resolution
Friede & Goldman Ltd. (F&G), Naval Architect and offshore rig design company, based in Houston, had limited availability of technical expertise to provide server and desktop support.
Consequently, their staff was tasked with the maintenance of the information technology causing employee productivity to decline sharply.
To eliminate this approach to problem remediation, F&G needed strategic guidance and expert execution of their information technology initiatives. So they engaged RSA for immediate problem resolution and a strategic plan for on-going service.
RSA Responds
RSA's initial response was to assume complete server, desktop and network support, in order to allow F&G's staff to resume normal job functions rather than focus on information technology-related problems.
This afforded RSA the ability to become intimately familiar with support issues and their impact on business processes. RSA worked with F&G on a strategic level to identify and then mitigate underlying problem areas.
As a result, RSA has assisted F&G with several special projects. These included a security initiative that focused on employee Internet access control, firewall hardening, secure remote access and FTP server design providing secure file sharing with clients.
Another project included the implementation of Voice-Over-IP to allow staff traveling abroad to communicate with the Houston office free of charge. This dramatically decreased long-distance telephone charges.
Another successful project was the custom design and implementation of new audio-visual equipment to update their conference room for enhanced usability.
